The danger of moving into someone's blind spot.

Bingo. It’s up there in the “Top 743 things that annoy me when I drive” list.
Also, why was there a car stopped in the right lane?
Also also, why was the blue car so caught off guard by it?
T his accident is caused by a multitude of factors, not just one.

You avoid blind spots in most vehicles by adjusting your mirrors correctly and using the rotational functionality of your neck in my experience

Sometimes you get stuck with having to make a decision between changing lanes or hoping you can stop because someone pulls a speed up and lane change move. Not this time. They have no excuse for not seeing it.
If I were in that crossover I'd hop the concrete curb to the right of I couldn't check my blindspot in time.

Can’t force others to do so, so my point is that one must be aware of the risks i f one moves into the blind spot of another.

Agreed. I can’t really fault the car in the video though, it’s not like they were hanging out in their blind spot

Another dodo who changes lanes at the last possible second, hope they had a good long
think when all the blood rushed to their
head.

I’ve watched this channel enough and found
Australia tends to have long lines/queue for right turns at intersections. Like the advanced right turn signal is too short and
or they’re
far between on the boulevards.

It’s hard to see, but at the end of the clip, there are several cars stopped there. The lane markings suggest that an additional lane is opening up on that side, presumably a dedicated turn lane.
Also also, why was the blue car so caught off guard by it?
Ah, asking the real questions!

How much ya wanna bet that B lue was following R ed #1 too closely before ignoring his b lind spots and swerving into R ed #2...
Heck, g iven the limited visibility of the footage, for all we know maybe Red #1 was ALSO following Silver too closely. And m aybe Silver was following that truck too closely...
Or maybe they were all us ing appropriate following distances and were driving too distracted to react in time. Whatever the case, I’m 99% sure that this was 100% preventable.

I have this theory that you should do things on the road slowly. If that Yaris had indicated, waited, and slowly moved over, things would’ve been okay. He might have gotten beeped or the Golf might have moved, or he might have seen it.
When you shift lanes this abruptly, you’re asking for trouble in the off-chance that the lane isn’t as clear as you expected it to be.
Of course he probably does 5 other things wrong too.
